REINBECK - Mildred Beatrice Halupnick Karkosh, 84, of Reinbeck, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer.

She was born June 26,1919, in Lincoln Township of Black Hawk County, daughter of Albert and Helen Pecenka Halupnick. She married Adolph W. Karkosh Jan. 26, 1938, at First Congregational Church, Waterloo. He preceded her in death.

Survived by three daughters: Sharlene (Vernon) Hoeg of Traer, Joyce (Randall) Paterson of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Geraldine "Geri" (Jerry) Walter of Marion; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Halpunick of Hudson and James Halupnick of Lees Summit, Mo.; and three sisters, Betty Rund of Traer, Phyllis Hill of Bettendorf and Ramona Westergaard of Kendallville, Ind.

Preceded in death by: a brother, William Halupnick; and a sister, Madeline Rogers.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Congregational United Church of Christ, Reinbeck, with burial in the Reinbeck Cemetery Friends may call after noon today at Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

A memorial fund is being established.
