WATERLOO - Dolores J. Harvey, 79, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born July 1, 1933, in Morse, daughter of Harold and Mary Akers Babbitt. She married John J. "Jack" Harvey on June 20, 1951, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Harvey graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1951 and was a homemaker. She and her husband served as foster parents for many years, caring for hundreds of children, mainly newborn babies. She also was a volunteer Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader for many years.

Survived by her husband; five sons: Mike (Maureen) of Midlothian, Texas, Jon (Donna) of Denver, Dave of Waterloo, Tim (Donna) of Cedar Falls and Ben (Cherice) of Houston; two daughters, Cindy (Dave) McFarlin of Mantorville, Minn., and Lori (Mark) Iiams of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold "Bill" (Cynthia) Babbitt Jr. of Birmingham, Mich.; and a sister, Mary "Dar" Griffi n of Bangor, Maine.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel and an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dolores had a huge love for all children.
