WATERLOO - Dale Lee Carstensen, 54, of Marion, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 14, 1947, in Waterloo, son of Leslie and Lucille Aswegan Carstensen. He married Barbara Jean Blackmon Sept. 5, 1968, at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.

Mr. Carstensen graduated from East High School and Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, where he studied as a machinist. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1968, and in 1996 began Aqua Technology of Iowa, which he owned and operated.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Lisa Waterbury of Marion and Nichole Carstensen of Cedar Rapids; his mother of Waterloo; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Judy Pullin of Ankeny, Elaine Leeper of Waterloo and his twin, Donna Carstensen, of Marion.

Preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Tracy; and a grandson.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Toddville Free Methodist Church, with burial in Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville. Military rites will be conducted by Toddville American Legion Post 674. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion.

A memorial fund has been established.
