WATERLOO — Gerald A. Bruns, 82, of Waterloo, formerly of Waverly, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 8, 1931, in Washington Township, son of Carl G. and Lucille O. Williams Bruns. He married Lois Jane Kirchoff on Oct. 24, 1954 at Peace Evangelical Church, Waverly. She died Sept. 1, 2006.

He graduated in 1949 from Waverly High School. Mr. Bruns went to work for Bruns’ Super Service Gas Station (B & B) in Waverly until entering the U.S. Army in March 8, 1951. He served during the Korean War until March 6, 1953. After returning home he continued to serve with the U.S. Army reserves until September 7, 1956, and continued to work at B & B. He then worked at John Deere Tractor Works Co. Waterloo, for thirty years.

Survived by two daughters, Regina (Jim) Harris of Logansport, Ind., and Wendy (Blaine) Davis of Waverly; a son, Robbie of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Baker of Port Orange, Fla., and Norma (Orlin) Lewis of Bloomfield; and a sister-in-law, Ann Kirchoff of Denver.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Bruns; a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Verlyn.

Graveside Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Waverly Area Veterans Group. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly is assisting the family.
