CEDAR FALLS — Joseph “Joe” F. Pirages, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born April 25, 1917, in Rockford, Ill., son of Joseph and Pauline Zubas Pirages. He married Viola “Ollie” Clark on Aug. 2, 1941, at Sacred Heart, Davenport.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed at the arsenal in Davenport and then at a military base in Maryland. Mr. Pirages worked at Herman Nelson in Moline as a chief engineer, then relocated to Cedar Falls where he was employed at Waterloo Industries as vice president of Engineering. He later transferred to Pochantas, Ark., where he retired from Waterloo Industries.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; two sons, Dennis (Sue) of Henderson, Nev. and Phillip (Ellen) of McMinnville, Ore.; a daughter Connie (Garry) Bahe of Hazleton; eight grandchildren, David, Andy, Cortney, Cassonda, Emily, Collin, Hannah and Trevor; two step-grandchildren, Jamie and Anthony; two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Ryker; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Amanda, Tim and Jessica; and a stepgreat-great-granddaughter Adrianna.

Preceded in death by two daughters, Paulette Zeiner and Nanci Davies; a brother Bill; and a sister Della Burns.

Services 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament. Visitation for an hour and a half before services Monday at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Joe enjoyed gardening and golfing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
