WATERLOO, IOWA - Rachel M. Kraft, 89, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, February 23, at Covenant Medical Center, of natural causes.

She was born July 9, 1910, in Waverly, the daughter of Joshua W. and Maud Ingersoll Chestnut. She married Otha Burnell in 1930, in Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1946. She then married Floyd Kraft in 1952, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a school teacher for 47 years, until retiring.

She is survived by a son, Roy A. Burnell of Littlerock, Calif.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bardeen Chestnut of Waterloo.

Rachel was preceded in death by a brother, Oren Chestnut; and a sister, Carol Sweet.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Parrott and Wood Family Funeral Care, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
