WATERLOO, IOWA - Harold B. T. Brown, 81, of Harpers Ferry, and formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, February 25, at Covenant Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 2, 1918, in Waterloo, the son of Peter and Inger Petersen Brown. He married Marian R. Andreassen October 26, 1945, in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death January 4, 1994.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Brown was co-owner and operator of Held and Brown Auto Service, Waterloo, for 10 years. He later worked as a machine hand for John Deere for 18 years, retiring in 1981. He was also a private independent sales distributor for Enviro-Tech International Products.

He is survived by a son, Ronald D. of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Bonnie Rieks of Dysart; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Donald of Waverly and Stanley of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Vernita Larsen.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, where there will be a 8 p.m. Masonic service by Martin Lodge 624, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Harpers Ferry Rescue.
