W. Isley, Well Known Retired Farmer Killed in Accident in Kentucky Sunday

Will Isley, 78, Route 4 was killed Sunday about 9 a.m. in a two-car crash on a highway south of Bardstown, Kentucky. His wife who was with him was injured and is in a Bardstown Hospital. Mr. Isley was taken to the hospital but died about two hours later of internal injuries. The accident happened when a car driven by a 28 year old father of four children crossed the lane into the path of Isley's car shearing off the left side of the car throwing out both of the Isley's. The road was straight and there was no intersection. The man was arrested but is in the hospital also with serious injuries.

Mr. Isley in addition to internal injuries had a broken leg and crushed hip.

Mrs. Isley has a seriously crushed foot and chest and head bruises. The foot will be placed in a cast to enable her to be flown home, possibly today, and surgery will be performed on her there. Mr. and Mrs. Isley left Wednesday morning for a drive down through the Ozarks region and where enroute to Madeira, Ohio to visit a daughter when the accident occurred.

Mr. Isley was born in La Motte, April 27, 1884, the son of George and Martha (Thompson) Isley . He married Katherine Hansen in Waterloo September 18, 1915. He farmed west of Cedar Falls, retiring in 1948. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. M. W.(Wilma Arelen) Gormly, Madeira, Ohio, a son, George Russell, Route 4, a sister, Mrs. Albert Rasmussen, Route 2 and four grandchildren.

Funeral services are pending at the Nelson Funeral Home.
