Vera M. Gruver, 87, Parkview Gardens Care Center, formerly of 709 Kerns Street, died at the care center Wednesday, May 15, 1996, of natural causes.

She was born September 20, 1908 in rural Independence, daughter of Bernard E. and Mary J Fowlkes Bishop.

She married Charles G. Gruver on December 25, 1926, in Waterloo. He died November 14, 1984.
Mrs. Gruver was a seamstress at Powers Manufacturing Company.

Survived by three sons: Charles Jr. of Waterloo, Robert E. of Semmes, Alabama and James E. of Anaheim, California; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and a great great grandson; four sisters: Ethel Moore and Beulah Young both of Phoenix, Bernadine Lane of Overgaard, Arizona and Betty Marter of Waterloo and a brother Walt Bishop of Mesa, Arizona.

Preceded in death by a son, Eugene "Earl"; three brothers, Harold, Russell "Bud" and George Bishop and a sister Ruby Sutton.

Services 2 p.m. Monday at O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup & Waychoff Funeral home, with burial in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 98 p.m. Sunday and until services Monday at the funeral home.
