WATERLOO — Muriel J. “Jeannie” Schroeder, 52, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, in Waterloo.

She was born Feb. 12, 1960, in Pierre, S.D., daughter of Orville and Verda Howder Hurst. She married Dean D. Schroeder on July 7, 1984, in Gillette, Wyo., and they later divorced.

Ms. Schroeder graduated from Murdo High School in South Dakota and earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wyoming in 1992. She was employed with Disabled Workers LLC in Waterloo and was an independent bookkeeper throughout Northeast Iowa.

Survived by a son, Andrew of New Hampton; three brothers: Russell (Janet) Hurst of Lakeville, Minn., Norman (Mary Kay) Hurst of Mobridge, S.D., and Dwight (Sheila) Hurst of Murdo, S.D.; and three sisters: Joyce (Richard) Drabek of Belle Fourche, S.D., Nancy (Don) Densmore of Evans, Colo., and Marlyce (Dale) Miller of Elk Grove, Calif.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie Lakes Church. Richardson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

A memorial fund will be designated at a later date.

Jeannie had a strong faith in the Lord and used His strength to encourage others.
