Services for Vinton J. Stealy, 96, of 516 Vermont St., are pending at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home. Mr. Stealy died 3 p.m. yesterday at Sioux City, where he had been living with a daughter since November, 1972.

He was born March 27, 1877, in Argyle, Wis., to Joseph and Mary Stealy. He married Susie Jacobs June 30, 1897, in Argyle.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and was employed for 41 years-by the Illinois Central Railroad. He belonged to the Railway Locomotive Engineers Local and was a 50-year member of Waterloo Lodge A.F.& A.M., where he was part of the Lodge Commandery.

Surviving are three sons, Paul of 727 Indiana St., Arthur of New Richfield, Minn., and Howard of 209 North Division St., Cedar Falls; two daughters, Mrs. L. B. Jones of 516 Vermont St., and Mrs. Nellie Elder of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, three sisters, and one grandchild.

Funeral services for Vinton J. Stealy, 96, of 516 Vermont St. will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Kennedy, urban minister for United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Waterloo Lodge 105. AF & AM, will open lodge at 7p.m. Wednesday for the purpose of conducting Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. Wednedsay at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. Ascalon Commandary 25 will be the honor guard.

Mr. Stealy died at Sioux City Saturday afternoon of complications of his age.

Friends may call at Parrott & Wood after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
