Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Schackow, 68, of 3086 Rocky Road., who was dead of a heart attack on arrival at Scholtz Memorial Hospital at 10 a.m. Sunday, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Memories. The Rev. John Polson, pastor of Hagerman Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, 3669 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, IA 50703

She was born Bessie Downing March 25, 1894, in Fayette county, daughter of John and Emma Campbell Downing. She was married to Emil Schackow June 7, 1918, at Oelwein. She resided there until 1942 when she moved to Waterloo. She was a member of Oelwein Methodist and Hagerman Baptist churches.

Surviving besides her husband are one son, James, 3092 Rocky Rd., a daughter, Mrs. Lyle Prochaska, 1155 Sheerer Ave., two brothers, Ray Downing, Elkhart, Ind., and Harold, of Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Glenn Piffner, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Oliver Brubaker, Caponette, Ill., and six grandchildren.
