SCHERMERHORN, WHITESCELL, HILER, DIXON, OLMSTEAD, HATHAWAY

Clark E. Schermerhorn, 73, 407 Reed Street, died at 10:30 a.m. today in Presbyterian Hospital after an extended illness of complications.

He was born June 13, 1854, in Schoharie County, New York. When he was 10 years of age, he moved to Illinois. On July 4, 1876, he married Miss Sarah Whitescell at South Grove, Ill.

Mr. Schermerhorn came to Waterloo 25 years ago and was employed here since that time as a teamster and gardener. His main work was in laying sod and starting new lawns. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal church and of the Fraternal Aid union.

Surviving besides his widow are the following children: Edward, Palms, Cal.; Mrs. C.O. Hiler, South Bend, Ind.; Mrs. Pearl Dixon, at home and Mrs. Leta Olmstead, 321 Ricker Street. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Rose Hathaway, White Rock, Ill.

The body is at the O'Keefe & Towne Mortuary pending funeral arrangements.
