WATERLOO — J. LaVerne Donahoe, 91, of Davenport, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Manor Care Utica Ridge, Davenport, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Ina, Ill., daughter of Edgar Ovid and Ada Katherine Williams Cole. She married Edgar Carr Donahoe on June 11, 1945, in St. Louis. He died Nov. 3, 2002.

Mrs. Donahue graduated from Benton High School, Benton, Ill., in 1939, then attended business school in St. Louis for a year. During World War II she worked at Amertorp Corp. Defense Plant. She retired from John Deere Tractor Works as a payroll clerk in 1982, after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and was on the diaconte board and church clerk. She was treasurer for American Baptist Women, Unity Circle.

Survived by a daughter, Nancy E. Donahoe of Davenport; and a son, Thomas S. (Mary Jo) of Davenport.

Preceded in death by five sisters, Viola Taylor, Leora Gornatti, Shirley Richards, Evelyn Laur and Gladys Book.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
