DUNKERTON — Sister Justina Steffen OSF, 85, formerly of Dunkerton, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Clare House, Dubuque.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Fairbank, daughter of Joseph and Mathilda Meier Steffen.

Sister Justina entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1951 and made final profession of vows in 1957. She ministered as a homemaker in North Washington and Dubuque (Mount St. Francis and Holy Family Hall) and in Hazel Crest, Ill.

Survived by: four brothers, Norbert (Betty), the Rev. Arnold, Sylvester (Felicitas) and Ralph Steffen; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Margaret; nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan sisters.

Preceded in death by four brothers: Richard, Alfred (Ann), Vincent and Cletus Steffen; a sister, Sister Samuel; and a sister-in-law, Lillian.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday in Francis Chapel, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, both in Dubuque. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque.
