WATERLOO — Donald E. Flood, 64, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born July 22, 1948, in Waterloo, son of Edgar and Ina McGimpsey Flood. He married Karen Lewis on Dec. 12, 1965, in Waterloo, and they were later divorced.

He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in social work. Mr. Flood was a deputy juvenile officer for 18 years in St. Louis County, Mo., retiring in 2010. Prior to that he worked at the Carnation Co., Waverly, for 26 years.

Survived by a daughter, Kim (Shorty) Youngblut of Jesup; a son, Donald (Charity) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; a sister, Karla Flood of Waterloo; a brother, Robert (Maurine) of Waterloo; and a special friend, Debbie Schaepperkoetter of St. Libory, Ill.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne.

Memorial services: were 11 a.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, Waterloo, with inurnment in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Please note past date of services.
