CEDAR FALLS — Helen C. Chaplin, 101, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities of natural causes.

She was born May 25, 1911, in Waucoma, daughter of Peter R. and Caroline Meyer Franzen. She married Glen W. Chaplin on July 23, 1939, in Dubuque. He died July 19, 1990.

Mrs. Chaplin was employed by Black’s Department Store for many years. She also was a member of the E.Z. Club.

Survived by seven nephews; seven nieces; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Albert and Matthias J. Franzen; two sisters-in-law, Laura Ida Franzen and Elsie Franzen; a nephew, Edward Franzen; and two nieces, Donna Mae Nissen and Dorothy Franzen.

There will be no services or visitation. A private inurnment will take place in Horton Cemetery, Horton, at a later date.
