EVANSDALE — James O. Demry Sr., 74, of Waterloo, formerly of Evansdale, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of pneumonia.

He was born April 1, 1938, in Nichols, son of Roy Omer and Pearl Metcalf Demry. He married Shirley D. Deeds on Aug. 4, 1956, in Springfield, Mo.

Mr. Demry retired from Viking Pump Co. in 2001 after 43 years of service. During his tenure with Viking Pump, he also worked part time for 16 years at Coca Cola and part time for 12 years at Standard Distributing.

Survived by his wife; a son, James Jr. (Staci Jackson) of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Greg Bunger of Waterloo; a daughter, Judith (Tony) Mungor of Evansdale; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carole (Howard) Swearengine and Betty (Jim) Routh, both of Silver Springs, Fla.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Funeral Home, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
