CEDAR FALLS — Norma E. DeWald, 93, of NewAldaya Lifescapes, died there Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.

She was born April 29, 1919, in Waterloo, daughter of Michael and Clara Mishler Tippey. She married Earl G. “Tony” DeWald on April 5, 1942, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Aug. 17, 1986.

Mrs. DeWald graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1938 and from Gates Business College in 1939. During World War II she worked at the Carnation Co. and DX Sunray. She then worked as a secretary at the Hawkeye Tech Health Sciences Department for 16 years and later as a part-time secretary at the University of Northern Iowa for nine years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church.

Survived by a son, Jim of Waterloo; and a grandson.

Preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, Floyd K. Beard.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
