Thelma Lois Morse, 88, of Cedar Falls, died of natural causes on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

She was born February 14, 1920 in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of James and Annetta (Natvig) Otteson.

Thelma married David C. Morse on April 14, 1943 in New Hampton. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2005. Thelma was a graduate of New Hampton High School and was legal secretary in New Hampton. She also was the legal secretary for a state representative in the Iowa State House. Thelma was a member of the Lutheran Church, and she and her husband were members of the Kings Court, Northrup King Seed Company.

Survivors include her son, David R. (Lois) Morse, of Cedar Falls; her daughter, Diane Ransom, of Placitas, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Stella) Riker, Daniel (Tamela) Riker, Laura Morse and Carrie (Michael) Lofstuen, and six great-grandchildren, Abraham Riker, and Rachel, Anna, Noah, Helen and Esther Riker.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and husband; three brothers, Russell Otteson, and Gerald and Kenneth Otteson, both in infancy, and three sisters, Ruby Wilson-Fennell, Charlotte Ugland and Bonnie Borlaug.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Monday, December 22, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
