Man Killed
As Horse
Throws Him

EVANSDALE - Funeral services for William (Whitey) Boswell, 41, of 5W Trail Ave., who was killed Sunday, when thrown from a horse into a tree, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Memories West, Waterloo.

Mr. Boswell was dead on arrival at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, at 4:16 p.m. Sunday of the injuries suffered in the accident, which occurred at Deerwood Park near Evansdale, while he was on a picnic.

According to police, Mr. Boswell was riding along a trail in the park, when his horse failed to round a curve and he was thrown into a tree, sustaining both head and internal injuries.

He was born July 12, 1931 in Pennington, Ark., the son of William and Martha Hail Boswell. He came to Waterloo 23 years ago from Fisher, Ark.

He married Lavonia Pullen on Nov. 8, 1949 in Fisher, Ark. Mr. Boswell worked for the Rath Packing Co., since 1951.

He is survived by his wife, his mother, Martha Boswell of 2212 Easton Ave.; two sons, William Hubert Boswell of Altus, Ark., George David Boswell, who is home on leave from Camp Delmar, Calif., with the U. S. Marines; one daughter, Mrs. Willie (Elizabeth) Holman of 1340 Victory Road, two grandchildren; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lizzie Hall, 211 Easton Ave.; two sisters, Mrs. Earline Hannan of Black Rock, Ark. and Mrs. Ruth Wilson of La Porte City.
