Maggie, wife of Geo. Leland, died at her home in this city this morning at 5:30 o'clock.

Maggie C. Boyd was born in Jefferson township, Bremer county, June 29, 1858, was married to Geo. Leland January 15th, 1879, died July 31, 1888.

Deceased leaves one child, a little daughter of four years. until a few moments before dissolution, she was conscious and conversed cheerfully with the little knot of weeping friends who hovered around her bedside.

Mrs. Leland had never been a member of any church organization, but a life full of kindly deeds of charity, of loving kindness to all, marked the true christian spirit that was her safe guide through life to death.

Two weeks ago to-day, Mrs. Leland ws suddenly taken down by a severe attack of cholera morbus, and despite the utmost efforts of physicians and friends, death was victor.

"Though death be poor it ends a mortal woe."

Dead! The tender loving wife dead. The mother gone forever from the tiny baby arms that have been went to wind themselves in loving embrace around her neck.

The vital spark, the soul, had fled from earthly things to the future from which the hand of faith rolls back the curtain of mystery and reveals to the freed spirit the eternity of joy called heaven.

"Death lies on her, like an untimely frost
Upon the sweetest flower of all the field."

The funeral services were held at Grace M.E. church yesterday afternoon, Rev. James Gorton officiating.

At 3:30 the carriages preceded by the hearse bearing the remains of the dead wife, started toward Fairview cemtery, where all that is mortal of Maggie C. Leland was laid to rest, amid the tears and lamentations of the friends she left behind. The general regard for Mrs. Leland was in no manner better testified than by the great number of citizens who filled the large audience room to overflowing. To the bereaved family and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
