AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

CHARLES BUNN DIED TODAY
AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS.

An Old Resident and Soldier—Came Here in 1856.

Charles Brunn, an aged and pioneer resident of Waterloo, died this morning at his home, 117 Ninth Street east, at 9:46 o'clock. Mr. Brunn was taken ill the 10th of November and since last Wednesday has been unconscious. The cause of death was a nervous collapse and breakdown, probably due to his advanced age. Since Sunday there has been no hope entertained for his recovery so the end was not unexpected.

Mr. Brunn was born in Baden, Germany, Sept. 3, 1841, coming to this country when 6 years old and settling in Illinois with his parents. In 1856 he moved to Waterloo, first living east of town on a farm. He was a soldier in the civil war, serving for three years in Company C, Thirty-first Iowa infantry volunteers.

In 1870 he married Carrie A. Glasser, who survives him. The following children also are left to mourn his death: Mrs. Emma Fralick, who lives at home; Elmer, of Valley Junction, and Mrs. Louis Eickelberg of Adrian, Minn. Besides these he leaves several brothers and sisters, Daniel and William Brunn, Mrs. Lena Smith, of Waterloo; Mrs. Catherine Smith and Mrs. Elizabeth Swartz of Dunkerton.

Mr. Brunn for many years was the night watchman at the Rath Packing Company until two weeks ago, when he accepted a similar position with the Waterloo Fruit and Commission company. The deceased was a member of Robert Anderson post, G. A. R., of the A. O. U. W., and the Emanuel Evangelical church. He was well known in Waterloo and vicinity, due to his long residence here, and many will grieve at his passing.

The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house and at 2:30 at the Emanuel Evangelical church in Courthouse square. The G. A. R. will have charge of the services. Interment will be at Fairview.
