Jack Lee Campbell, age 82, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after a brief bout with cancer.

Jack was born Aug. 9, 1930 in Palmer, Neb., to Guy Leo and Opal Ida (Greek) Campbell. At the age of nine, he moved with his mother and sister to Waterloo where he grew up. In 1947 he joined the U.S. Navy, and spent three years in Hawaii. After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Waterloo and went to work for Titus Manufacturing. In 1966 he was transferred to Phoenix as a plant manager, and after six years was sent back to Waterloo. In 1975 he was transferred to Ponca City, Okla., where he remained until his retirement in 1993, completing 43 years of service.

During his tenure in Ponca City he married Alice Kunz and following their retirements, moved to Russellville, Ark., where they spent four years before permanently settling in the Joplin, Mo., area.

He is survived by his wife of the home, a daughter, Laurie Poole of Meridian, Okla., a grandson, Anthony Poole of Perkins, Okla., two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Maxine Freeland of Waterloo.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a step-father, Harold Capstick.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
