MURRAY, TAYLOR, RICE, ZERKLE, BRINKMAN

George W. Murray, 83, of 2841 Lafayette St., died at this home of complications following a lingering illness at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was born March 20, 1887, at Dunkerton, son of Cyrus and Maggie Taylor Murray and married Myrtle Violet Rice here Nov. 4, 1916.

A veteran of World War I, Mr. Murray was a retired employee of the Waterloo John Deere Tractor Works, and was a member of UAW Local 838 and of Becker-Chapman Post, American Legion.

Surviving are his wife; three sons; William E., of Greenville, S.C.; Earl W., 1737 Glenny, and Russell, 924 Sheffield; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Zerkle, 2277 Reed St., and Mrs. Iona Brinkman, 120 E. 8th St.; one brother, Ernest of Janesville; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Chapel of Memories West with the Rev. John M. Aeby, pastor of Grace Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories with the American Legion in charge of flag folding at the grave. Friends may call at the funeral home.
