Donald E. Gindt, 79, of 437 Charles St., died Monday, July 12, 1993, at the Allen Memorial Hospital emergency room of an apparent heart attack.

He was born June 1, 1914, in Waterloo, son of Edward and May Heyer Gindt. He married Mary LaPierre on June 18, 1940, in Waterloo.

Mr. Gindt was an automotive service manager with Martineau Chrysler and was later employed with Deere & Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel of Omaha; four daughters, Barbara Scott of Skull Valley, Ariz., Elaine Ficken of Clear Lake, Rosemary Bunning of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Margaret Houghton of Santa Fe, N.M.; and 12 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and a grandson.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup & Waychoff Funeral Home, where there will be a 3 p.m. Forresters rosary, a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7:30 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
