JAMES YANDA

Services are pending in Cedar Rapids for a former Waterloo resident, James Yanda, 90, who died of a stroke at a Cedar Rapids hospital early Monday morning.

Yanda was born in Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States when he was about 10 years old. A veteran of the Spanish-American War, he had lived in Oxford Junction and Waterloo, before moving to Cedar Rapids about 35 years ago

He had been a conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad.

Mr. Yanda is survived by his widow; two sons, Edward, of 218 Allen St., and Russell, of Green Bay, Wis.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Victor.

In 1903 he married Hattie (last name unknown) Their sons were Edward and Russell They later divorced and she married Leo V. Kelly in 1942
