May 30, 1909-November 10, 1997

WATERLOO -Elmer L. Hocken, 88, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of 1015 W. 11th St., died Monday, Nov. 10, at Crestview Acres, Marion, of natural causes.

He was born May 30, 1909, in Winthrop, son of Harry H. and Etta Neibeck Hocken. He married Hazel E. Ferguson on June 2, 1934 in Aurora. She died Dec. 21, 1986.

Mr. Hocken had been employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. for 15 years, and was a yard man at Canfield Lumber Co. for 11 years and worked as a printer at Morris Printing for five years, retiring in 1972.

Survived by three daughters, Naomi Brewster and Esther Hamilton, both of Cedar Rapids, and Ellner Billington of Cary, N.C.; and three grandchilden and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Harold.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories.
