Funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday for John Camarata, 83, formerly of 1655 Berich Ave., who died Saturday afternoon of complications of advance age at the Lawn City Nursing Home in Cedar Falls.

Services were at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. J.W. Stark officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Camarata was a retired grocer in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area. He was born in Boston in 1880, the son of August and Margaret Camarata. He and his family moved to Chicago when he was a child.

In 1903, he married Mary Pusateri in Chicago. They moved to Cedar Falls in 1912 and to Waterloo eight years later.

Surviving are two sons, Fred, of 112 Madison st., and Gus, of 734 Wallgate Ave.; five daughters: Mrs. O.E. Palmer, of 1228 Lyon St.; Mrs. Isadore Sussman of 1420 Patton Ave.; Antoinette Camarata of 1420 Patton; Mrs. A.L. Palmer of Vallejo, Calif.; and Pauline Camarata of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Paula Rizzo of McAllen, Texas; a brother, Phil Camarata of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, wife, a son, a sister and two brothers.
