RIDENOUR, BOARDMAN, AOYAMA, PIERSON, BAXTER

Stephen C. Ridenour, 67, of Cedar Falls, died at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. He was born March 22, 1941 in Cedar Falls, the son of William “Ed” and Ruth (Boardman) Ridenour.

Stephen married Kimie Aoyama on July 6, 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. He was a 1958 graduate of Marshalltown High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Stephen served with the US Army from 1958-1961 in both Korea and Japan. He had been a radio announcer at both KFJB in Marshalltown and KXEL in Waterloo. Stephen was a local landlord and also a radio technician with the Iowa Highway Patrol for twenty-five years, retiring in 1996. He was a ham radio operator in his spare time, and made contact with over one hundred different countries.

Survivors include his wife, Kimie, and his daughter, Kimberly, both of Cedar Falls; a brother, Lynn (Cheryl) Ridenour, of Marshalltown; a half brother, Marc Ridenour, of Show Low, Arizona; two nieces, Faith Ridenour of Marshalltown and Shannon Pierson of Newton, Iowa; a nephew, Shawn Ridenour, of Baxter, Iowa; and four sisters-in-law, all of Tokyo, Japan.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents.

A committal service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls at a later date. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
