Keith “K.L.” Pries, 75, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Keith was born September 24, 1932 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Henry & Elsie (Kroblin) Pries.

He married Lavonne Boekelman September 18, 1955 at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka, Iowa. Keith graduated from East High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Rath Packing Company for 34 years and then for 19 years with Waterloo Recreation/Leisure Services at Young Arena. He was an assistant Scout Master and a Union Steward.

Survivors include his wife, Lavonne, of Waterloo; one son, Jeff (Terri) Pries of Fairport, New York; one daughter, Karen (Glenn) Holt of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; six grandsons: Andrew, Eric & Adam Pries, and Ben, Steven & Brett Holt; seven sisters: Bernice (Howard) Hansen of Waterloo, Geri (Alta) Pries of Arizona, Fern (Sid) Miner of Chillicothe, Missouri, Dorothy Obidinski of Taylor, Pennsylvania, Liz Fleming of Waterloo, Shirley Buck of Waterloo, and Gloria Kruger of Grundy Center; three brothers, LaVern (Maxine) Pries of Cedar Falls, Robert “Buzz” (Betty) Pries of Waterloo and Ron (Shirley) Pries of Waterloo; two Goddaughters, Shirley Tangen and Barb Scheel, a God grandson, Andrew Scheel; and his mother-in-law, Emma Boekelman of Titonka.

K.L. was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marlys & Eunice; two brothers, Willie & Joseph; and three nephews, Terry, Doug & Loyd.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Full military honors will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the family.
