EVANSDALE — Margaret A. Stoneman, 88, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born March 8, 1924, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Arnold and Avesta Padget Madsen. She married Robert Stoneman on Oct. 30, 1943, in Waverly. He died Sept. 18, 1995.

Mrs. Stoneman graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1941. She worked as a purchasing agent for Matt Parrott and Sons for 32 years, retiring in 1990. She was a 50-year member of Waterloo Fraternal Order of Eagles, volunteered at Waterloo Senior Center from 1999-2007 and was a recipient of the Mayor’s Volunteer of the Year Award.

Survived by a son, James of Evansdale; a granddaughter, Kristie (Shannon) DeWiese of Evansdale; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Kylee DeWiese; a brother, Arnold (Edna) Madsen of Cedar Falls; a sister, Darlene (Robert) Stone of Hannibal, Mo.; and close friend, Marg Chappel of Evansdale.

Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo.
