RONALD P. HARTMAN

Funeral services for Ronald P. (Pete) Hartman, 74, of 1325 W. 6th St., Cedar Falls, for many years a linotype operator for the Waterloo Daily Courier, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. Dr. C. Vin White, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Mr. Hartman died at 2:29 p.m. Saturday at Allen Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Hartman was born on May 2, 1894, at Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Thomas E. and Carrie Dickson Hartman. The family moved to Waterloo in 1903. Mr. Hartman was a resident of Waterloo until moving to Cedar Falls nine years ago.

He worked as a linotype operator for the Waterloo Morning Tribune and after the Tribune and Courier merged in 1931 he was employed in the Waterloo Daily Courier composing room as a linotype operator until his retirement in 1960.

He was a veteran of world War I and a 56-year member of the International Typographical Union. He was a member of Black Hawk County Barracks no. 1276 of the Veterans of World War I, and of the American legion.

On June 15, 1936, he married Zatha Irene Irlenbush at Wheaton, Illinois. She survived him, as does a son by a former marriage, Kenneth F. Hartman, 815 Wilshire Blvd.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Flag folding ceremonies will be conducted by World War I Barracks No. 1276 at the cemetery.
