John B. Harbaugh, 73, 812 Hammond Avenue, died at 2 a.m. Thursday at his home, after a 10-day illness of a complication of diseases incident to his advanced age.

He was born Aug. 14, 1860, in Maryland. At the age of 21 he came to Polo, Illinois. He married Miss Mary Funderburgh there Dec. 9, 1885, and the couple resided there until 1891, when they moved to a, farm in Orange Township, Black Hawk county, Iowa.

They moved to their present home in Waterloo in 1913. Mr. Harbaugh was a member of First Brethren Church.

Surviving besides his wife are four daughters: Mrs. Cleve G. Miller, 604 Hammond Avenue; Mrs. Harvey Hoffman and Mrs. J. H. Shaulis, both of Orange Township; and Mrs. Thomas Grosh, Hagerstown, MD; one son, Ralph V. Harbaugh, 1843 Hawthorne Avenue; five sisters: Mrs. Sam Winters, Mrs. John Fockler, Mrs. Ulysses Schaller and Mrs. Melchor Garver, all residing in Maryland, and Mrs. Anna Sheridan, Texas, and two brothers, Dan Harbaugh, Maryland, and Sam Harbaugh, Orange Township. Fifteen grandchildren also survive.

The body was taken to Peterson Bros.' Funeral Home.
