Waterloo woman dies
of car crash injuries

A Waterloo woman died Sunday of injuries she sustained in a two-car collision last Monday.

Mrs. Margaret Leona Dunakey, 64, of 840 Newton St., was critically injured when the car she was driving collided with one making a left turn in the 400 block of Broadway Street. The driver of the other car, 30-year-old Roger Vincent Kopacek of Britt, was charged with failure to yield the right of way. Mrs. Dunakey was hospitalized in critical condition and died of multiple injuries at 8:20 a.m. Sunday.

She was born June 23, 1910, in Waterloo, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Stubenrauch Girsch. She was married to Donald Dunakey Nov. 5, 1938, in Waterloo.

Survivors include three sons: John of 712 W. Park Ave., Paul of 314 E. Arlington St., and David of 533 Lime St.; a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Pope of 625 S. Hackett Rd.; and a brother, Paul J. Girsch of 1408 Baltimore St.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at O'Keefe and Towne Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday.
