WATERLOO - Irene E. Werner, 84, of Friendship Village, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Dysart, daughter of Hessen and Minnie Mehlhaus Sheronick. She married Joseph P. Werner Feb. 12, 1945. He died Dec. 25, 1985.

She graduated from Orange High School in 1939. She and her husband farmed on Kimball Avenue, in the Eagle Center area, for many years. She also worked at Iowa Harvester and for many years at the law firm of Picket & Kober.

Irene was an active member of Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church including recently serving on the administrative board, a member of Legal Secretaries International and Victory Chapter.

Survived by a brother, Edward (Marlene) Sheronick of Hudson; many foster children; and many nieces and nephews.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, with burial Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorial fund will be established.
