WATERLOO -- Ruth M. Westerbeck, 91, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, died there Tuesday, May 1, 2001, of natural causes.

She was born July 7, 1909, in Sioux City, daughter of Henry and Gertrude Connor VanGorder. She married Raymond F. Westerbeck on Nov. 3, 1928, in Humboldt. He died July 6, 1978.

Mrs. Westerbeck worked for Rath Packing for 23 years, retiring in 1972.

Survived by two sons, William of Crossville, Tenn., and Michael of McKinney, Texas; a daughter, Judy DeGroote of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
