EVANSDALE — Edwin F. Myers, 90, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, Dec 11, 2012, at Ravenwood Health Care Center, Waterloo.

He was born May 5, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Gay Jerry and Mae Kinney Myers. He married Ethel Marie Heerkes on July 19, 1946, in Waterloo. She died April 15, 2005.

Mr. Myers served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 42 years as a clerk, retiring in 1981.

Survived by a son, Robert (Betsy) of Silver Bay, Minn.; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Jason) Bertini in Wheaton, Ill.; a great-granddaughter, Emily Marie Bertini of Wheaton; two nieces, Pat (Kenny) Weber of Jesup and Rae Ann (Ron) Pedersen of Cedar Falls; and a nephew, Mike (Julie) Heerkes of Texas.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Walter.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail.
