Jay Underwood, 52, of Waterloo died Tuesday Feb. 6, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of complications from cardiac arrest.

He was born July 21, 1954, in Waterloo, the son of Claude H. and Janette Folkers Underwood.

He married Barb Glasgow on July 24. 1976 in Waterloo. Mr. Underwood was employed as a machinist Dept. 426 at John Deere retiring in 2004. He also was Santa Clause at Crossroads Center for the past two years.

Survived by his wife of Waterloo; his mother of Waterloo; a son, Brandon (Mandi) of Waterloo; three daughters: Libby (Jimmy) Underwood, Mindy (Jay) Underwood, all of Waterloo and Kelly (Kenny) Underwood of West Allis, WI; two grandsons, Patrick and Tanner Underwood; three sisters: Barbara (Daniel) Duggan of Waterloo, Julie (Brian) Hayes of Cedar Falls, and Andrea (Christopher) Herman of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his father; infant brother Neal Thomas; paternal grandparents Claude Sr. and Carmelita Underwood; maternal grandparents Eldon and Lenora Folkers; mother-in-law Doris Glasgow.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Garden of Memories cemetery. Public visitation 4 8 p.m Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St. where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

In leiu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a Educational Trust for his grandchildren.
