EVANSDALE — Nelda F. Buckendahl, 77, of Evansdale, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Norfolk, Neb., daughter of Philipp and Florence Gilmore Fink. She married Philbon “Buck” Buckendahl on Oct. 29, 1954, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Norfolk. He died April 25, 2000.

Mrs. Buckendahl worked for the Waterloo Community School District in the kitchen department and had worked for Morris Hardware until it closed, then Lederman’s Clothing Store until retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 Auxiliary.

Survived by a son, Bradley of Evansdale; a daughter, Penny (Michael) Rounds of Peterson; four grandchildren, Buck (Harmony) Rounds of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jo (Jana) Rounds of Primghar, Dawn (Mike) Hamilton of Evansdale and Tina (Lonnie) Clark of Louisville, Ky.; and a sister, Reta (Lawrence “Red”) Carstens of Norfolk.

Preceded in death by a son, Daniel Chris; and a brother, Norman Fink

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.
