CEDAR FALLS — Janet L. Hornstein, 83, of the Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center, died there Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.

She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Ralph and Margaret Baumhover Wieland. On June 10, 1950, she married John D. Hornstein.

Mrs. Hornstein graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1947.

Survived by her husband; and two sons, John Steven of Cedar Falls and Scott (Joyce) of Huxley.

Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and for an hour before services Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with burial in the cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established in her name for East Central Iowa Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association, 317 7th Avenue SE, Suite 402, Cedar Rapids 52401, and Western Home Foundation, Martin Center, 5102 S. Main St., Cedar Falls, 50613.

The family thanks the staff at Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center and Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls for their attentive care and kindness. We also want to thank all of our many friends for being there for Janet during her life.
