WATERLOO — Frances Mary Schmadeke, 99, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Rosewood Estates.

She was born April 6, 1913, in Fairbank, daughter of Charles and Veronica Fettkether Durnan. She married Lavern Schmadeke on Nov. 18, 1937, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died Nov. 5, 1988.

Mrs. Schmadeke graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Fairbank.

Survived by three sons: Joseph (Rita) of Waterloo, Charles (Ellen) of Solon and Edward (Carol) of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren, Eric (Laura), Craig (Mary), Brad and Brian (Chris) Schmadeke and Annette (Brad) Staples, all of Waterloo, Paul (Andrea) Schmadeke of Brandon, Kara (Jeff) Schmadeke-Booze of Anamosa, Mary (Rich) Paterson of Riverside, Gina (Matthew) Schmadeke-Koski of Loyal, Wis., Amy (Ron) McInroy of Gurnee, Ill., and Sara (Ron) Selleck of Cedar Falls; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dolorita Durnan of Waterloo and Veronica (Jack) Cobb of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by three brothers: Bernard, Leo and Joseph Durnan; and three sisters, Valeria Durnan, Angela Theisen and Sr. Mary Valeria PBVM; six brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Frances was a loving wife, mother and homemaker her entire life. She was a 60-year member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Society.
