Albert W. Schoeman, 56, of Waterloo died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born May 18, 1951 in Grinnell, son of Harold and Mildred Nieman Schoeman. Mr. Schoeman was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a chef with Freemans Restaurant for several years and was active with the Libertarian Party. He was a member of the Iowa State Chess Association and the U.S. Chess Federation. Albert was currently employed at the Pit Stop Convenience Store.

Survivors include a son Isaiah (Heather) Schoeman of Blaine, MN; a granddaughter Hayden Schoeman; his mother Mildred Schoeman of Cedar Falls; a brother Richard Schoeman of Cedar Falls; and a sister Mary (Densmore) Hunter of Federal Way WA.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church. Public visitation will be from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services at the church on Saturday.
