Clara M. Knipp, 101, died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Affinity Assisted Living.

She was born September 15, 1906 in Gilbertville daughter of Chris and Elizabeth Gutenkauf Schmitz. She married William J. Knipp on February 16, 1927 in Gilbertville. He died April 6 1984.

Survivors include two sons, James (Nancy) of Kent, Washington and Robert (Carolyn) of Waterloo; two daughters, Luella Lou (Erv Wehling) Collins of Waterloo, and Mary Lou (Richard) Roethler of Metamora, Illinois; 32 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband, five sisters: Mary Schares, Margaret Delagardelle, Agatha Kayser, Loretta Bovy, and Elizabeth Schmitz; six brothers: Lawrence, Jacob, Joe, Ray, Chris, and Walter Schmitz; three sons: Marvin, John, and Donald; one great-grandson Nicholas Junk; one step-great-grandson.

Services will be 10:30 am Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church with burial in St. Marys Cemetery Gilbertville. Friends may call from 2-8 pm Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a rosary at 3 pm & 7 pm. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be made to St. Edwards Catholic Church or to the family.
