WATERLOO - Arlene Luella Wirtz, 89, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born March 3, 1923, in Fox Township, daughter of Louis and Olinda Marie Riensche Orth. She married Joseph William Wirtz on July 25, 1945, in Waterloo. He died Oct. 27, 2004.

Mrs. Wirtz was employed in the offi ce and plant at Rath Packing Co. for 15 years.

Survived by a son, Steve (Pat) of Evansdale; a daughter, Phyllis (Larry) Walton of Ainsworth; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Orville of Jesup; and two sisters, Irma Hopkins of Cedar Falls and Verona (Ed) Zelle of Waverly.

Preceded in death by a son, Dan; and two sisters, Margaret Schildmeier and Miriam Frush.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Care Initiatives Hospice.
