GILBERTVILLE, IOWA — Gerald L. Fischels, 75, of Dumont, formerly of Gilbertville, died Friday, November 2, at Dumont Wellness Center.

He was born June 4, 1937, in rural Black Hawk County, son of Joseph Michael Fischels and Florence Mary Youngblut Fischels.

He is survived by three brothers, Joseph (Rosemary) of Gilbertville, Ronald (Jackie) of Waterloo and Cleo (Jane) of Jesup; two sisters, Bonnie Weber of Gilbertville and Mary Ellen (Bob) Matthias of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Fischels of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin Fischels; and a brother-in-law, Leo Weber.

Services will be on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, both in Gilbertville.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where there will be a 4 p.m. parish rosary. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. White Funeral Home, Jesup, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville; Dumont Wellness Center; and the Harmony House, Waterloo.
