HUDSON - Loran Middlekauff, 92, of Hudson, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer.

He was born April 18, 1920, in Waterloo, son of Roy and Veda Stech Middlekauff. He married Ruth Cowie on May 23, 1959, in Cedar Falls. She died May 27, 2008.

Mr. Middlekauff graduated from Hudson High School in 1938 then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He farmed in the Hudson area for many years. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Hudson, past commander and adjutant for 28 years of Hudson American Legion Post 159, past commander and adjutant for Black Hawk County American Legion, past director of Black Hawk Township Farm Bureau, and past secretary of Black Hawk County Farm Bureau.

Survived by four nieces: Cindy Erpelding of Irma, Wis., April Sage of Edwardsville, Ill., Marianne Sage of Florence, Ariz., and Debbie Scoby of Salem, Mo.; and two cousins, Glenn (Lynae) Stech of Waterloo and Nancy (Dennis) Stull of Bluffton, S.C.

Preceded in death by a son, David; and a sister, Beverly Ehlenfeldt.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Church of Hudson, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, with flag presentation by American Legion Post 159. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Hudson Educational Fund.
