CARNES, TERNS, KERKOVE

WATERLOO — Margaret M. Carnes, 95, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born March 25, 1917, in Jesup, daughter of George and Elizabeth Terns Kerkove. She married Glenn Carnes on April 23, 1938, in Jesup. He died Aug. 29, 1948.

Mrs. Carnes was employed with the Department of Human Services for 19 years, retiring in 1981.

Survived by two sons, James (Ruth) and Jerry (Hazel), both of Waterloo; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, George Kerkove of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a son, Glenn; a sister, Isabelle Hazel; and three brothers, Paul, Fred and Raymond Kerkove.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
