WATERLOO — Robert G. “Mr. Bob” Thomas, 75, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Oct. 15.

He was born March 13, 1937, in Waterloo, son of Virgil and Margaret Howe Thomas.

Mr. Thomas graduated from Waterloo East High School and continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa. He worked at John Deere for a few years, then served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1981. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in Labrador, Greenland, Panama, Vietnam, Thailand and Germany. He then worked as a janitor at Grace Chapel Foursquare and worked as a binder at Printeq Printing and Graphic until retiring for good. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Survived by cousins and many friends.

Preceded in death by a brother, Richard.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Waterloo VFW Post 1623. Visitation from 3 to 6:30 p.m. today at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Mr. Bob lived a simple life to enjoy God and spend time with the neighborhood kids and his pets. He said his best decision was made early in life while in the Air Force and that was to trust Jesus Christ, his Savior and Lord.
