Hal E. Finney, age 48, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 14, 2012, at his home in Des Moines. He was born Nov. 21, 1963, in Waterloo, to Emery and Helen Finney.

Hal graduated from West High School in 1981 and spent 12 years in the Army Reserves in Waterloo and Des Moines. He worked for Swift Packing Plant and also co-owned a body shop in Des Moines. Hal had a love for cars and drag racing, but above all else, he treasured the time spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, Hal is survived by his loving wife, Kristi; sons Anthony Finney, Michael Hall and Travis Hall, all of Des Moines; grandchildren Baylee, Emilee, Evelyn and Bryson; sister Lindy (Jim) Kerns of Waterloo; brothers Gary (Ruth) Finney of Cedar Rapids and Lonny Finney and Blair (Cindy) Finney, both of Waterloo; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 19, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at River’s Edge Christian Church, 1247 Cedar Bend St., Waterloo, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may also visit with family from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church in Waterloo.
